The thought of eating fragrant flowers had never occurred to me..until 2008! My Aunt Terry had been making lavender cookies for years and when I visited her, in 2008, she served them with homemade mint iced tea.

I thought lavender was for soap and perfume but the benefits of eating this herb has many benefits. It is known for it's calming effects. The taste of lavender is also delicious and smooth.

I've now been making lavender cookies ever since and it's become a summer tradition! The addition of a tablespoon of lemon extract adds a brightness to the cookie. Linked below is the classic sugar cookie recipe perfect for adding a tablespoon of lavender buds and a tablespoon of lemon extract. Pair the cookies with your favorite herbal beverage and enjoy!
