In my kitchen garden grows several Fairy rose bushes. They are popular for their abundant flowers and billowy form. The Fairy rose is also pretty resistant to disease and pests but lacks fragrance. Definitely a landscape shrub that, when planted en masse, makes a dramatic statement.
The Fairy rose also makes a fantastic potpourri when the buds and flowers are dried. I like to fill a mesh garment bag with the blooms and hang to dry for about 4 weeks. I then mix lavender essential oil ( add more or less depending on your preference) and the roses in a large jar. Let that set up for about 6 weeks and then you will have a beautiful rose bud potpourri to fragrance your home.
